Eezeegeezer and Cerberas

We saw him settling in for his first night tonight in his new pub/sushi bar/club/restuarant/erotic massage parlour (Maxims in Eastbourne) and despite being a spd6 owner, he was kind enough to buy me a drink

Twas he that insisted I find out for certain, believing otherwise himself, the question being: Were there only ever 500 cerberas made?

I understood 500 was the limit, legally, and that if more cars were to be made crash/emission testing etc would need to take place in order for production to continue?

Can anyone enlighten? How many cerberas were made, excluding the few speed12s?

This has been discussed many times Rob. Definately more than 500 made, no one has ever managed to find out the true numbers from the factory I believe, but the educated guesses range from 1000 - 2000. Graham is better educated in such things so I shall leave the floor open for him....

Amazing that I missed that. Ive been reading PH forever, and the only figures I recall are people telling me on various occasions that 500 cars was the limit, for all models

How can this be, if bigger numbers mean emissions and crash tests, which IIRC the cerb has not been a part of?

Because.... (i may be wrong) the 4.2 is one model, 4.5 another model, etc. Each model can have 500. Probably the same as they are doing with Tuscan/Tuscan 2.

I'm assuming the same regs now were in place when they started building the cerb as far as the 500 limit is concerned.

I was told by an RO that nope, 500 cars included all engine sizes. I wont mention any names though

So for sure then, 500 of each model?

The legal limit is 500 per annum, I believe, not in total.

There have probably been over 500 Cerbs stuffed over the years.

500 is the new limit, a few years ago the SVO approval limits were set a bit higher...

Just come back from my local dealer and they say that the factory are moving away from the 500 per model.
Didn't ask how or why as the phone kept ringing!

Yep, I thought the 500 limit per model was an NS introduction? Could be wrong (normally am)

I suspect as it's 500 per year (according to JS, who's usually right) and demand for the current models remain strong then they've done a bit of a U turn.

It would be too expensive to redevelop/retool every 500 cars and I think NS has now realised that!

Anyone ever get a x of 500 plaque in their glovebox as promised?

I guess no one knows, but I was wrong - on the upside more than 500 cerbs were made, perhaps three times that figure, but no one knows for sure
