Ummmm....note quite finished yet, as I'm in Brussels.....
Basically I've renewed the reflectors on mine which made quite a difference. I've already got Phillps vision plus bulbs in there.
Stage two is to take a feed for the lights straight from the battery and switch it via relays at the front of the car. The original headlight wiring will be used to switch the new relays (so yes, I'll still have the original relays in the boot too). Heavier gauge wiring will be used throughout (as I'll also be switching the cooling fans to the same supply).
In addition, I'm putting in some 'xtreme white' PIAA bulbs, which at $65 for the pair had better let me see through time![]()
I've got everything mounted in the car, but I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to finish the job. I'll keep you posted.
Finally finished this off. I've taken a direct feed from the battery for both live and earth and run this to a couple of relays at the front of the engine bay. I made up some new wiring for the headlights in heavier gauge wire to connect them to the relays. The original TVR headlight wiring now just triggers the relays.
Combined with the PIAA bulbs, this has made quite a difference. The only hard part was diagnosing a relay fault, that turned out to the be the 'dim/dip' feature Cerberas have when the sidelights are on in conjunction with the ignition. In this state 10 volts is fed to the dipped beam circuit. Needless to say, the new relay didn't like it much. I found the dim/dip box in the boot and disconnected it. I never even knew of this feature, but thanks to earlier post by Crazycats it all made sense.
I've also used the same power feed and the same method to feed direct battery power to the two engine cooling fans. Also modified so that the first fan will alway run the second one at the same time. Never really made sense to me why the ECU would turn one on at 95 deg and the other 2 degrees later......
