Garage width!! A bit concerned.......

Just been clearing out the garage, prior to collecting my Cerbera.
However, just measured it, and Im concerned about the available space. Its 243cms wide. Length is a squeeze too, but have 20 cms to play with there so will have to knock up a nice sponge indicator that shakes its stick when I am closing in to the end.
BUT.... my worry is the width. I have seen overall width is 186cms including mirrors, but assuming I have to leave 10-15 cms one side, which is tight enough, are the remaining 40cms going to allow me to open the door enough to get in/out the car?

Danny used to push his in and out as not enough room to get door open enough.
The doors are very long and you need decent space. I put carpet on the wall of my garage and then ensured passenger side was very tight. Then opened window, pushed seat back, opened door, pushed against carpet and then wriggled out. Dont think it did my back any good!

I have some carpet I am going to put on the wall.
Pushing in and out wouldnt be my option, too easy for it to veer to the right and scrape along the house!!
I dont think this garage is any smaller than any other garage, but im a bit worried. Anyone got a car width measurement not including mirrors?
Anyone in/near Weybridge want to drive into my garage and see what the fit is like? ;-) lol.

Car dimensions are L = 4m 28cm W = 1m 87cm according to Top Gear.
Sounds like your garage is a bit smaller than mine (I thought mine was pretty small).
If I go all the way back (few cm from the wall) the I have about 1 foot or so in front of the car.
At the side I have about 32 inches (80cm roughly) that's not counting the few inches at the other side so I don't scratch the mirror.
I've got some padding on the wall to save the door paint but I've got enough space (just) to park the car and bike side by side.
I don't know the exact dimensions but when I bought the flat one of the criteria was that the garage was big enough to fit the TVR (I bought the flat almost 2 years before the Tiv).
Its going to be tight, but I think I should just about be ok, given that I will leave about 10cms on the passenger side to stop scraping, I should be left with 50 cms plus the actual mirror length, as that wont affect the door opening, so Im looking at 55cms, not being the largest of people, that should just about give me enough.
Failing that, I will have to move, good job Im renting.....
Would actually prob buy a lockable car port, but not sure how Insurers like them?

55cms should be ok to get in and out. Before I started putting a bike in there I used to just reverse straight in and leave about 50cm either side.
Easiest way, as someone said is to put the seat back when you park as it almost doubles the space you have to squeeze out from. And if you reverse in it's easier to get the car up against one side.

I can vouch for the smallest garage. My door opening is 2m. Which leaves me 70mm either side of each mirror. Total width 2.4m, so I have to slither out of the drivers door with the aid of baby oil. I would recommdend some carput on the wall to press the drivers door against.
When it comes to length I have a bit of plumbing pipe lagging at the end of the garage and I stop a foot short and push it the last foot till it crushes the lagging. Only then can I shut the door!!

I think I will have to go in forwards tho, as the garage opens up to the right as you go in, slighty. So as long as I stay tight to the left on the way in, I will maximise door opening space drivers side.

Recently helped out a guy local to me with same questions..more about scraping ar$e on drive, but I missed the actual moment when the Cerbie was tried,but that all went OK and that was a single garage in a newish house, perhaps Martyn or Rob(if you are back) can help?? I might be able to get over to you this w/end if you don't get any other offers..but I'm sure you will
Pushing the seat all the way to the back will help you to get out. If it's really tight, then dropping the window all the way will help too (it'll go back up when you arm the alarm). Although the Cerb and the small garage were responsible for my scraping my 3-day old IWC Mark XV watch down the garage wall
