How can I test my heater control system???

Anyone know how I can test my heater control systems?

It looks like someone has had a go previously, as the ribbon to the rear of the operating switches was disconnected and there appears to be a burnt wire (black) on the heater control unit (MEU0150)?

I have had the control unit appart and there are no other signs of damage internally however I have not found a way to test it?

When I connect everything up nothing happens, checked the fuse and zip, no lights, fans or anything - so I just dont no if the problem is the control unit or the switches?

I'd guess that the black wire is the earth and if that's not making a decent connection then it won't work. I had a dodgy burnt connection on my ignition control unit and ended up directly wiring each feed to the control unit. Worked fine after that.
