I have had standard 16" wheel on my Cerb for about 2 years. When I bought the car they were in perfect nick and I haven't done any damage in my 2 years of ownership.

Anyway a couple of months ago I decided to upgrade to 18" spiders and a week ago the brand new wheels and tyres were put on the car at vast expence. They make the car look fantastic!

And you've guessed it for the first time of Cerbera ownership last night while picking up my son I decided would be a good time to kerb my new spiders. Ahhhhh! SH1T. Feel like such an idiot.

My apart from messages of condolence I would like to know if anyone could recommend a wheel refurb place near Southampton. How much does it usually cost and does the repaired wheel look different from the others? Do they actually paint the wheel and if so doos that mean I lose the TVR logo on the wheel?

I know how you feel - I 'scraped' one of my anthracite ones along a curb and dinged it around the whole circumference it makes me sad.
I think micheldever do wheel refurbs. don't know the price tho. I believe they do spray them tho & that probably means you loose the logo - i guess you can get the transfers from somewhere?

Due to the lower profile tyres, its alot easier to kerb the wheels than with more normal profile tyres. So watch those kerbs.

oh!!!!!!! i'd be gutted aswell i'm sure you can get then refurbed for £200 by the makers in blackpool look on ebay they do an exchange basis type thing

Yep, mine happened when I was too busy blipping the throttle through the narrow brick arched railway bridge (like a short tunnel) near my house - too much attention on amazing sound & avoiding oncoming traffic: not enough attention on where the curb was!!

Looking at what you do for a living Greenie, can I suggest you buy ten drums of cable, hide them for a month & see how much they're worth afterwards.

I think you're confusing me with a clever person.

Option 1 is buy a new wheel and fleabay the damaged one. I estimate the swap would cost £100.00.

Option 2 get the damaged one refurbed and lose the TVR logo on the wheel and a slight colour mismatch. Cost £50.00?

Option 3 take the laizze faire approach and not worry about the small blemish. Perhaps kerb the others for a more rounded look. Cost my self esteem?

It is so difficult being a TVR owner. Some people have no idea.

Don't get it refurbed just yet, cos you'll do it again soon! the Spiders 'stick out' more and are easier to kerb, treat a wheel refurb as a once a year maintenance thingy, and just get them all done over the winter.

Yeah, they are a great place called PX wheels. ( www.pxwheels.com ). Spiders for £65 per wheel. The guys name is Gordon, great chap.

Fernhurst do have exchange spiders for about 50 quid- but I do not know wheter thats only for regular customers- give them a ring. You can get TVR stickers for about 6 pound each

I think racing green do exchange as well ? Certainly they will refurb for you.
I like the partex wheel business model, the guy running it etc, hence why I would go for him!

I've kerbed mine a few times, takes about a year of driving to eventually learn where the edges are and stop doing it.

Personally, I would replace the front wheel with a new spider.

Well I have eventually got around to having the damage sorted.

I took another route. I got a Chips Away type company to repair the damage. I've got to say the results are excellent. The colour match is perfect and even the "metallic sparkle" has been retained.

The bloke came to me and did the work. So I didn't have to take the wheels off and send them away and no new logo needed of course. Very impressed.
