Finally de-catted the cerb yeaterday night.
I've had the pipes sat there for a couple of month now but have been waiting till after my MOT to fit them!
THEY'RE TOO BLOODY LOUD THOUGH!!!
Going to take them for a propper spin today and see if I can live with them, but they sounded like my exhaust had fallen off after testing them last night.
With my sports pipes and cats the car was very loud anyway, but it had a really nice crisp exhaust note, but now it sounds more like a tank! maybe they're blowing a bit at the joints?

Think i'll keep them on for now and see how it goes.
I'm off to work at sea on Saturday and not back till August so i'll let you know when I get back if I want to sell them on.

De-cat AND sports pipes are widely accepted to be over the top! Either do one or the other, or be prepared for bleeding ears! 
I have de-cat but normal back-box, which is fairly normal noise-wise when poodling, but really let's rip when you do the big right foot!
What's the exhaust note like on this?
Before, with cats on and sports pipes it gave a really nice sort of high pitched sound, bit like a big sports bike or ferrari stye.
Now it's a bit more like an american growler with the cats off.

I think it depends on the state of the standard backbox. I have standard backbox and de-cat, the box has blown most of its wadding out, if not all, and its sounds bloody fantastic. I would be loathed to change to sports pipes at the moment becuase its such a good noise!! I was going to put some on but changed my mind after a few runs out recently...while it lasts its staying put.
The sound is quite deep and echoey on idle but turns into an intoxicating wail on full steam...
It is reasonably 'normal' when idling / pootling - well next door havent complained yet and they have a newborn!

Am now wondering how much use the two small cans on the exhaust are and whether to cut them open and run a pipe straight through
Lots of (more informed than I)people say there is no power gain from a decat. Mine felt much more responsive, but the right hand cat was rattling!

I definatley noticed it feels more more responsive now!
Funnily enough my right hand cat was rattleing too, and looked to be breakig up indide.
I also have sports exhaust and de-cat (non linked) and I throughly love the sound. At idle it's very similar to having a bunch of Harley V-twins parked behind the Cerb.. and you only really notice the volume when you stand behind, which I rarely do. On the motorway I've done some longer runs without any problems with the noise levels and I find the high RPM bark usefull to scare the traffic out the way......
It has....made the radio almost completely useless but then again it wasn't exactly the simphoney orchestra in the first place.
Ah... forgot the flames.... oh the flames..... you need those too.... makes the car go faster... (well probably not actually) but to all the people behind, it turns the Cerb into some kind of mythical beast.....

Ah sunny day today, out for a blast on the country roads and the decats are starting to grow on me now

Plenty pops and bangs so hopefully a few flames too, even if you rev it at standstill it pops and bangs like hell when the engine returns to idle speed.

Thats my setup too, and its the best I think. Decat and sports exhausts makes you sound too much like a boy-racer I think!
You know the type - Fiat Punto with a bit of drainpipe for an exhaust!

Mark, your only round the corner from me and I too have de-cat and sports exhaust.
If your not doing anything Friday, I'd be happy to pop round and we'll go for a quick spin and worry the locals, maybe even get some video, see if the flames are what you imagine. Got nothing on until dinner time, so drop me a line if interested.

I can vouch for this!
Cerealsurfer your car sounds 'evil' at idle and on load, and it was even drowning out mine when you were behind me on the M40!!!!
You should get on the "Cerbs in the City" run in July then everyone can enjoy it!!

I had the pleasure of hearing three of the possible combinations recently, three 4.5s, all Titanium too (makes a difference lol) mine has linked decats and the factory tail, the others had linked plus sports and non linked and sports, best sound imho was the linked plus sports, deeper rumble than mine but not as brash as the non linked setup, although they all sound lovely!

I've got quite a bit on today Byff so can't make it.

I should be home end of July so hopefully be able to meet up then, with any luck the sunshine will be back out too!
