Anybody ever crashed a TVR????

No worries It´s not my plan to try out and I love my Cerbie to bits, however statements on security are quite controversial- some people say you by late seventies security (NO airbags, ABS, Traction Control, fancy deforming parts...) however other people (and the factory)claim you by Race technology-- a sturdy chassis wich is Tuscan Challenge tested, bolted in reinforcements (@ least Cerb and Tuscan)- anybody some experience on that???

repaired a few tvr`s now, tricky question,
it all depends on approach angle.
from those ive repaired it seems that the later tusc and cerb are very strong in frontal impacts, losing bodywork is normal but the front chassis is very er industrial,I think the length of front helps a bit
side and rear enders seem to be a bit of a weak point as there is no chassis at the rear from wheels back and a minimal frame round the sides at floor level,
although ive never had to scrape human remains out of one yet I remember as a lad seeing a wedge chopped almost in half (including chassis) by a mk1 granada it was not pretty and both occupants were unfortunately killed on impact,but the granada was actually driven onto the recovery truck.

I crashed my last one head-on into the side of a Corsa at about 50mph in January.

No-one (me, Corsa-idiot or Corsa-idiot's front seat passenger) sustained as much as a bruise.

My car was busted up, but the chassis was not damaged at all. Corsa-idiot's insurance co decided however that it wasn't worth repairing so paid me for it (hence I have a new one now). Their quotation for repair was £13k.

I heard the other day though that my old car IS going to be repaired!

There were several PH unfortunates who had smashes during the winter months, one being a complete roll-over but all, thankfully, walked away. It looks as though 'The Cell' is pretty tough.

When i crashed mine back in December the front and rear stud up very well to a 60 MPH inpact with the armco barriers but the car hitting me at 50MPH right on the passenger door was another story .... basically he hit right between the roll cage bits so pushed the door right up to the transmission tunnel ..... God was i lucky

I had someone rear end me in my Chimaera: I was stationary, they were doing 40/50mph. They went 'through' the boot & were stopped by the fuel tank which just got a bit dented. Chassis was fine.
In terms of side impacts, to be honest I wouldn't really want to be in any car in that situation and if you're hit by something big and heavy it won't matter much how good your cars safety kit is!

Ridds crashed my (old) cerbera !
I hit a deer head on in my old Chimaera at about 80 mph! (car was doing 80 not the deer). Car stood up very well. Cracked grp was the only prob. A metal car would have been written off and would have been a massive accident. The Chim was still driveable (albeit covered in cracks, fur and blood).

A friend of a friend (yes an actual person) was severly injured when he crased his T350 on the east lancs road in St Helens, he was seen to hit the central res at about 70, then carrered across the road hitting the curb then rolled 1 or 2 times finally landing upside down on a metal fence. Police have ruled it to be 'Driver error'. The car as you can imagine was smashed to pieces, chassis is bent and the roll cage appeard to be non existant! This isnt a post pointing out how crap these cars are but a word of warning, Play too hard and it WILL bite.
