Brake light switch from what?

Just sorted my brake lights by taking the switch to bits and cleaning the contacts, but what a nasty piece of tat it is! Any idea what its from or is it a TVR part? no markings at all and made from what looks like recycled pastic cuttlery! This little blighter already cost me a brake light lense after it stuck on and melted it, not a great problem you would think but you have to buy a new clear light cover and have it ground to fit the body. I suspect there is a better quality unit out there, any ideas?
i had to replace the switch a few weeks ago, and when I took it to a local autospares shops (manned by one of those blokes who when you show him a part he can tell you instantly the chassis number it came off etc) he claimed he had never seen anything like it before, so am guessing it must be a bespoke part. However after searching through a box full of switches we eventually found one that fits perfectly, but is all metal construction, rather than the flimsy plastic.
Can't remember the manufacturer name, but it was in a blue/white/yellow box and was made in Nottingham. (was a major car spares supplier) Cost about a fiver from what I remember.
Sorry the above is not much help, I will search in garage later this afternoon to see if I still have the box (I tend to keep boxes for no apparent reason) and will post later if I can find a part number etc.
