Brake rattle

That is the sound of my Cerb going past!!!!!! Here is the problem.


I have a terrible rattle coming from the o/s rear brakes. No problem when I hit the brakes but when I take my foot off the pedal, sounds like the pads are slapping against the disc. After a minute or so the noise lessens as I get back on the gas. I have also noticed it sometimes when going around corners. The noise seems to be getting worse over last couple of months. I have stripped brakes down twice, cleaned and applied the trusted copper slip on the back of the pads, it does stop it but only for 30 miles or so then back to the rattles.
Any ideas ???

The rear pads are a bit of a loose fit in the caliper, there's quite a few cars out there with silastic/ silicone sealant holding the pad to the caliper piston. A mod pioneered by jools I believe which shuts things up a bit

It works and is easy to do, just take the pads out spread some silcon sealant on the back of the pads, slide back in and apply the brake and leave to set.

this works great until you want to take the pads out in a hurry then they are a right b......d to remove.

I take it that they dont have any anti rattle springs then?

I put new springs in mine and it still rattled.
Hi-temp silicone fixed it for me (Hardly needs any at all then they can be removed OK)
