Any one got one of these?

They have been highly recommended to me...but which one do I need...

Blue, Red or Yellow top...


Any ideas...or stick to Halfords best ;-)

Any will do effectively.

They're for different applications.

Yellow for Vehicles
Blue for Marine
Red for Heavy Duty/Industrial

Best to check their website to be sure.
Mine has a Blue top in it.

ooo do you have the same mods as James Bond had in his Espirt in for Your eyes only?

hehe...only joking...though most Cerbs are full of water most of the time.

I have the Optima Red Top in my cerb, overkill maybe, but its been absolutely the dogs genitals as far as starting reliability is concerned.

I got it cheap that's the only reason I have a blue one.

Red Top are supposed to be the ones for high performance vehicles. I had one on my last car that had 10.75:1 compression ratio and needed some umph to tun it over.

I've had the yellow top in mine for about 18 months, been great with no problems. (Touching wood)

They are superb, I have a webasto pre-heater in my audi a6 avant TDI that works like a central heating boiler and uses diesel to heat and circulate the coolant pre-heating the engine to about 80c and warming the interior. My (not that old), Bosch sliver was struggling with the load last winter needing charging up regularly and sometimes only just starting the car, the Optima doesn't even break a sweat

There is a difference between the colours but it is related to internal chemistry. Red tops are high amperage and better for cold starting, but voltage will tail off with discharge, where as yellow tops give less out right cranking amps but will hold on longer and not fade away in voltage so much as they discharge more useful for high power ICE, afaik, Blue tops are a compromise combination of the two intended mainly for marine use
