Fords (thats water not manufacturer!)

Hi i'm off on a jolly all around dear old Dorset soon and know that I'll have to cross at least one but probably two fords. They should be pretty low at this time of year - about 4 - 5 inches i'm told.

Any one any excperience of taking a Cerb thro' a ford?

Any issues?

Pretty sure someone told me that the Cerb is outstandingly good for going through water, relatively speaking at least. Air intake I assume is the worry area and you can see that in the nose but is mounted up the top, should be alright up to your numberplate or so (front one not back ) but take it steady going in but then keep up the pace, don't come to a halt as you then risk it coming in the other end and up the exhausts.

{disclaimer time} I have been known to get this arse about tit so don't take my word about this, sure someone more knowledgeable (not hard) will be along shortly.

Do you have cats? If you do steer clear. It will mess them up and crak the internals, due to shock cooling.

Yep would say that it's too low for them really, thermal shocking the sump oil and cats will do them no good whatsoever.

However it's not a no.

The previous owner of my Griffith drove it through a ford....

it killed the engine & had to go for a rebuild.

Why on earth would you take a supercar through a ford? Isn't it more pleasurable (and safer) to take the long way around?

Buy a 4x4 if you want to go offroading?

Agree, steer clear - another point to note is that quite a lot of fords around here have steep entry or departure angles, so whilst you may get through unscathed you would dunk your exhaust on the way out (if not clonk it on the stream bed...)

Don't go through a ford if the engine is hot. The fans tend to be quite low and will spray water over the entire engine bay, this is pretty certain to kill the engine.
