Decat or not to decat that is the question?

Right OK lads 'n'lasses, in a slight quandary here, have been considering de-catting the Cerb (especially after hearing a couple the other weekend on the jaunt to Goodwood 
)
The problems I have are: 1) apart from the noise factor are there any gains..in fact on a couple of previous posts it has been suggested a loss of power. 2)problems with the M.O.T and even my insurance...again on a previous post this has been mentioned and finally 3) How easy would it be to revert back if I found I wasn't happy with the mod?
I'm not unhappy with the noise or performance as it is now...but you know how it is...

I'm running on sports pipes at the moment and to add to the mixing pot I'm looking at the possibility of an induction kit as well. I know I'm unlikely to get a clear cut solution but your opinions would help as I would then have a bit more info to weigh up the pros & cons before approaching Paul at Austec to hear his thoughts on the subject (afterall he'll be performing the surgery on my wallet...sorry I mean doing the work,subject to a satisfactory quotation of course

but hey ho If you decat ask paul about the inline silencers from Tim, they will give you a bassier sound, plus it helps with the flow when you are going for the induction kit.

You ain't kidding! very careful after one occasion where parked on longish grass, when I reversed I noticed black smouldering cat shaped area on grass, could have been a disaster!
Its very easy to revert back to the cats if you don't like the effect, but with sports pipes and no cats it will be VERY LOUD, also with the linked de-cat pipes you'll pick up a bit of power. Although the car may have to be re-mapped slightly to make the best use of a decat.
Also it lowers the under car temperatures dramatically so giving the gearbox & starter motor and your left thigh an easier life!
Also you'll still need the cats to pass an MOT unless you have a particularly 'understanding' tester

Go on, you know you need to do it. The wheels can be next on the list!
Don't worry about the MOT - Paul does mine no problem and I've got no cats either. (I wonder what the other 2 hours labour is for...)
If you do get them done - I'll be able tohear your car start when you're at home (save me calling you!!!).

I knew it was that simple Rob....too quiet, I have noticed a slight delay when returning home and waiting a few seconds before the wife apppears to open up the garage, she says she hears me from miles away, obviously I need more noise therefore that = more time which = garage open ready Problem solved...off to Austec this week then
