The yellow cossie was a stripped out class X racer and the race was a beaut. Not my fastest run but good all the same.

Still only managed a best of 12.3 in the end but my starts are letting me down as I didn't get better than a 2.4 60ft time! Still I'm happy as we only got this new engine in and running on the day before the event and didn't have it mapped or the NOS back on it.

I'll post more pictures when I receive them.

Looks nice in the photos Craig
You've got a hell of a squat on take off though , I take it you backed right off on the rear shocks for grip . 2.4/60's is where you obviously know you are loosing the time, shocking , I think you need sub 2's to get near or better Cyclones times, saying that if you are doing 12's with 2.4/60's all without a map means its putting down some pretty serious power already .

We dyno'd it at 440bhp when the engine was just put back together with the reworked heads last week. Also still using the old knackerd injectors and a few of the trumpets on the air boxes have collapsed. So Air boxes inhand injectors soon and then mapping with the twin map chip for normal use and NOS.

I see is that why Paul didn't achieve much on my lump before he went on holiday, too busy working on your wee beastie .
I'm getting a twin map chip too, but only for good petrol and bad petrol, not NoS

Sounds like it's going to be a proper monster, without nitrous it'll be good for 470bhp? How much nitrous are you going to run 100bhp? You'd only need to run the nitrous in 3rd and you'll be into the 10s once it's all set up. Fancy doing TOTB VI next year?

I hope she does hit 470bhp I thought at first it would never get near it as it never felt right but that was down to poor parts being supplied and causing all sorts of problems.

We're runninh a 250bhp shot of NOS. We know with the tyres were on that it can be used with a 200bhp shot if we bring it in on 2nd @ 40% it then delivers the full 100% in 2 seconds. Then full 250bhp in third again @ 40% start to 100% in 2 secs!

I'd love to do TOTB. But I need to get this start sorted first to be able to compete around the same level.

I thought you'd have been up there this weekend mate you'd have won the class D trophy as a blood Porker did it. We did laugh as his runs all day were crap and his motor was all stripped out semi slicks the lot then he pulled the 11.9 out the bag and we were like Ah Bollox......

What were the terminal speeds over the line? that's a rough guide as to how much hp you have largely irrespective of how badly you get off the line

we know a 420hp cerbie gets about 118mph in calm weather so hopefully we're looking at over 120mph from your car

Hi Craig,

Whatever the engine makes 440-480bhp, the main thing is that you'll have a well built NA engine capable of handling the 250bhp of NOS, hope all goes well afte the mapping, so post up how you get on.

I think that there are now a few TVR's that are capable of entering TOTB and are in with a chance of challenging for top honours. My 11.9 1/4 would have put me in the top half of the table for the RWD cars, the winning time was 10.67 by an MG SVR and I know that in my current state of tune the car is good for 11.5-11.7, I've still got a bit more to come power wise over the next few weeks that should see between 430-440bhp, this should definitely guarantee 11.5 1/4's, with a 100bhp shot of NOS just in 3rd theory states that the car should dip into the 10's. With your set-up and 250bhp of NOS you'll definitely be in the 10s and in with a chance of challenging for top honours.....you won't need to worry so much about the launches with so much power, but ideally it would be good if you can get them down to 2.0 60ft, I've managed a 1.835 60ft which I never thought a TVR would be capable of. My last visit to the Pod was a bit of an anti-climax (mid July), it was absolutely baking hot, I had a slight problem with the clutch pedal and only managed 3 runs before I called it a day due to the heat, still managed to run 11.9 twice but with 2.0 sec launches this time, from comparing my slip with my previous 11.9 the car is definitely quicker after the 330ft mark. I think along with Nickccc and maybe one or two other TVR owners we could get a team sorted for next year

I couldn't make it to USC and didn't realise anyone could enter, I thought it was similar to TOTB, would have been nice to have beaten the stripped out porker. I will probably have another run at SP later this year, probably in September, I'll drop you an email and let you know, and then I'll see if I can get a few more TVR's along.

Were looking at another evening at the Pod in a few months. Its one of the test days so limited to 100 cars all day and the tracks open from 10am to 9pm so let say plenty of practice. It £50 for the day to sign on but well worth it. Don't ask me what day it is but I'll find out.
