Cigarette lighter sockett

With all the in and out of the NAVI and the ACCUMATE in the cigarette lighter sockett it deceided to come out with the accumate this morning- at least part of it. I assume just trying to recite it will cause some nice sparks and most likely kill something- apart from that I may well have to take part of the chubby whole off...
Now the question- should I deconnect the battery or is it OK to take the MAIN KEY out. what needs more resetting afterwards. Does anybody know whether the main key disarms the cigarette lighter???

I had exactly the same problem when I got my car. The outer ring is very thin and so it's easy to push through.
I removed my radio and got my small hands down the back. The inner part (with the ring) unscrews from the outer part (which is larger and 'locks' against the rear of the panel.
Watch out as I only had about a quarter turn to uncrew.
I filled down a chromed plastic washer to fit nicely, but as there's not much turn on the original I had to remove a few mm of metal from the outer ring so that I could screw it back on. I took it down to the bulb housing.
Watch out for the bulb housing as it just clips to the side. Like me, you'll probably knock it off a few times which will have you swearing as you put it back on again.
The wiring is very short so you don't have a lot of slack to play with.
Open your boot, as I blew the fuse which also also powered the boot. In fact I'd probably remove the relevant fuse whilst you're playing. Mine was fuse 7 but there's some differences it seems so check your manual.
My finished job looked like...
