Another door+ window problem....

This weekend I am going to take a closer look at my door windows. They do not close high enough. I've tried to put them a bit higher in the window clamps, but this was not solving it.

Another thing is that my door is often bouncing back when I want to close it. The second attempt is then better, but I still have to use quite a lot of force.

The car is restored and the doors are one of the last items to do. During the restoration the windows were out. I did put in new felt in the runners. I did put a new solenoid in for the door. The locks were out and in again. Before the restoration the doors closed with less force and when the windows didn't close completely when closing the door, it took a couple of closings to make the window setting right again. Is this sounding familiar to anyone?

I am now also reading about the door read switch M1166. What does it exactly do?

The magnetic switch tells the door control ecu whether the door is open or shut. The striker pin on the door can be adjusted so the door sits correctly. You can also clean and lubricate the lathe mechanism. If you need to remove it you gain access by removing the small panel with a speaker in it behind the door. To get that panel out remove the speaker and feel for a wing nut attaching it to the trim panel above it that runs along the roofline.

I haven't looked at the door control unit and behaviour for a while but if I remember correctly the functionality of the door and window system is this:

1. Door open button pressed

Window drops lower than reed switch, and then release mechanism is triggered for door

2. Door open window up button pressed

Window only goes as high as triggering reed switch

3. Door closed (sensor on bottom of door)

Delay and then timed window up on window of 3 seconds or so

4. Alarm enabled

Door window motors activated up for 3 seconds or so

So... If your window isn't going all the way up it means that it is taking too long to get there.

It could be that the new felt is too tight and is slowing down the window mechanism?
