Anyone know what it’s rated to?

Anyone with a big power motor had to change the diff to another unit or upgrade?

How about conversions? Seems like some LS engines cars just use the stock diff, I’m wondering how it copes or what everyone has done to to upgrade it - if anything.

Cheers thumbup

Pic for attention

talk to Mike Reid at grantura engineering

or Ian at sportmotive etc etc

i run BTR m78 2.77 diff with approx 490 lbft in a griffith as a road car no issues in 4 years

M80 is stronger but rarer, or a US diff?

plenty of options but this is a light car

loads of questions I guess to hone what is best solution for you...hence speak to a specialist I would suggest

I think it's the drive shafts that are the weak point

If it helps I've fitted a M80 diff from a late TVR into my '97 Cerbera. Not run it yet, but I can say that it more or less bolts in with new front mounts, but looks like I'll need to shorten the propshaft by about 50mm

The only benefit with the M80 (besides another 5mm of crown wheel diameter) is having the 31 spline output shafts as opposed to the m78 28 spline. Saying that, you don't hear of the M78 splines failing too often.

Lots of good m78 carriers out there that are rated to 700 to 800hp, such as the Harrop Eaton Truetrac or Kaaz. Not sure what the Quaife is rated to. I'm running the Kaaz 1.5way super Q. Some good stuff here https://difftechnics.com.au/

Your 27 splined stub axles will be the weak link, followed by driveshafts, followed by cv cages.

I've bought Kartek 300m axles (19 inch and trimmed to size, they run a 3-inch-long spline) 300m cv cages and run a GTR R34 hub with a 32 spline stub axle.

Dave Mac https://www.davemacpropshafts.co.uk/ have made uprated stubs and driveshafts for TVRs.

You may wish to consider going up to a 1350 UJ for your prop shaft too.
