I am about to try balancing up my engine, as having inspected the maps one bank is having to adjust far more than the other. Two fairly basic questions.

1) One of the throttle pots is rock-solid whilst the other constantly bounces up & down by 0.4, is this sufficiently noisy to cause problems & hence how noisy is 'too noisy'. Do I need to fit a new one?

2) I need to clamp the purge pipe, but having had a quick look, am not sure which it is. Can someone tell me roughly what size it is and where it leads from/to
Cheers

Thanks noodles, but I already have the dark copy of the manual and it doesn't quite show what is being clamped, hence my question.

Let me guess thats its the n/s pot (odd bank) thats fluctuating...

I spent a lot of time looking into this and have a fix which really helps.

Speak to joolz if you need more info.

Nick.

I have exactly the same problem. One throttle pot wavers up and down and one rock solid. I spoke to walldonway about it and their reply was that the throttle pots rarely go bad in this way. They usually just stop working. They don't change the pot unless it fails completely or recurrently logs faults. They suggested I go slowly through the wiring loom moving it away from the engne because throttle pots get a lot of transmitted noise.

Hope that helps, although on mine am planning to remove them to a bench and check them that way.

I think you'll find that pipe curves round from left to right and then the clamp is the thing at the top of the picture at 1oclock. Picture 24 is a slightly better orientation view. P.S Vroom whats the fix??

To finish this one off, and for any following persons info, you need to look for a four way junction in the pipes to the rear of the engine under the injector rails. A clamp needs to be placed rearward of this junction to stop the fluctuating airflow affecting the setup.
