Excuse my ignorance here. I've got a '98 4.2 Cerbera with dipstick at the back. What are the leads I can see on top of the engine, one on either bank?
It looks like these leads have rubbed against the bonnet and the insulation is wearing away. Are they easy to replace yourself? Does anyone know the part numbers?
Cheers

OK, on the assumption you are talking about the two black leads that are plugged into the two plastic switch thingies, one on the front of each bank (these are the only ones that stick up on mine and could conceivably rub on the bonnet), you will be pleased to know that these are the sensor wires for the throttle pots. If you search the threads you will discover that the throttle pots can be the bane of a Cerb owners life if upset
. The cables are hard wired into the engine management loom, but should have outer rubber sleaves to protect them. I would initially add some electrical tape to protect them immediately (I hope no wire is showing
), then talk to a dealer/indi as to jointing new ones, as I guess they me fairly voltage/resistance sensitive.
Hope this helps
