There are 3 engines! Please do not dismiss the speed6, it has as much power as the 4.2 V8. Let me tell you my experiences - thought that the V8 was the one to go for, I drove one and was not impressed either by the engine sound or the performance,Then I drove a Speed6, this seemed far quicker and more refined also the engine sounded fantastic, for me this swept away all considerations of rebuilds etc, so far I have not regreted my decision. I will now prepare to get flamed by the V8 Boys.

Thanks
I did know about the 6 but had been told engine problems were more common.
you said yours has been good, but is it brand new as i have only got £18k to spend.
While we're on this thread about V8's, I'm interested in the history of the 4.2 and 4.5? Having just parted with my 2003 Tuscan S (mainly because of paranoia in case the engine went), I've started to look at the Cerbera 4.5 but I'm vague on where those engines came form - AJP - but who are they?
Apologies for being an ignoramus......

AJP stands for - Al Melling (Designer), John Ravenscroft (Development Engineer at TVR and PW's right hand man) & Peter Wheeler (Chairman of TVR).

My question is what is the longest surving S6 without a rebuid?
Good question - i would like to see this answer. My first choice would be the S6. Beautiful engine, wonderful sound and driving characteristics IMO...
Speed 6
Before purchasing the car I have now I drove an S6 with 33000 miles on that had never been rebuilt, the engine was supurb and it was driving this car that led me to choose the S6 model. My own car had a rebiuld at 15000 I think (although it had not failed it had a small missfire apparantly), it now has 30000 miles on.
Like many people I was after a V8 because of worry about S6 reliability, however this kind of logicality went out the window as soon as I drove an S6, IMHO a much nicer car than the 4.2 I drove.
I didn't pick a V8 because I was worried about S6 reliability. I picked a V8, because if your going to buy a ludicously fast car, why buy the second fastest ludicously fast car in the Cerbera range?
Nope, forget that, its just the noise that excites, and well the throbbing. And the excitement of reaching my destination without something falling off the car.
Oooohhh I think I'm going to have to go and drive it again. Where are you madeline?
