Hello all.

New Cerb owner here (I'm new not the car). Does anyone know how to lower the beep on the indicator. It's LOUD.

And... any feedback on Mole Valley. My car has just gone in for service and they came back with quite an expensive list of to do's. they seem professional, but just checking these will be real items that need doing.

Thanks!

Beeper can be reduced in volume by unsrewing the top of your inst panel and twisting a knob.
Dealers can have long lists of to dos at high ish £s per hr. Personally I;d say leave it all and get it booked in with Andy at APM (surrey/hants).

Hi Joe,

Beeper volume is a 5 min job and very easy.

1, Remove 2 wing nuts holding dash above clocks
2, Pull top of dash away to reveal rear of the instrument cluster

3 There is a pot right on top of the board in the middle that can be turned up or down as required.

ps Joe - congrats on your first post in 12 months!
Tell us about your cerbera. Age (of car) etc..
I highly recommend APM. Especially if your car is to be run on a budget of less than 10k pa. !!! although there are lots of other indies around surrey etc eg fernies, castle etc..

Cheers Gazzab. Cerb is a '98 4.2 in silver. A real beaut. Goes like stink and a lot of fun. Superb sound.

I just put it in for service and it needs work on suspension and clutch slave/master... expected to have to provide TLC. I did have a 'pro' check it over before buying but the 'pro' missed some apparently obvious problems. More to come... depending on how it gets resolved I guess.

Still... I have a budget for repairs and the work's being done so when I have it back the GRIN will return...

Suspension - make sure you dont go for TVRs own suspension parts - go for springs and dampers by other manufacturers eg ohlins, Nitrons, AVOs and Redlines and of course Joospeed springs. If you dont go for the makes above (some of which are cheaper and better than TVRs) then go for elastic bands and jelly instead ie anything is better than TVRs own stuff.

thanks gazzab... they are doing the springs right now but dampers on back order... so I could look for alternative dampers.

Current quote front dampers £318 + VAT for pair (fitting extra £120). Same for rear.

Any issues with mixing TVR springs and other make of dampers?

Dont do it !!!
AVOs are £95 each ish. They are vastly better than TVRs. BUT are best fitted with Joolz springs.
Look at Joospeed.com
You can get the full nitron set and springs for less than a grand!!

Learning curve is vertical... thanks for the help. Think I may be too late for this one as Mole have the car in bits right now...

Live and learn - I will always ask the board for future work that needs doing...

Joe, gazzab is right. Take the opportunity to go with uprated springs and dampers. The difference is astounding. You will have a car that corners as well as it goes in straight lines!!! Nitron kit is almost the same price all in as standard and VASTLY better!

I have used MV to service my Chimaera for the past 4 years. They are very thorough and will point out any items that need doing now or in the near future.

I have always found them to be excellent

One other thing... the cabin get v hot.

Air Con works ok, but hot air comes from vents under the dash and up to windscreen... this is without heater on.
If I switch heater on more hot air comes out... also hot air thru gear stick and handbrake surrounds...

any ideas? Cheers

Springs are cheapish.
So if you can then act now - otherwise you will always regret it. Cancel the order for new dampers. Order AVOs from APM and keep the TVR springs (or get new ones ordered from Joolz) OR even better order Nitrons and new springs and get em fitted by APM. The first option is cheapest - 4 x avos = £400 plus VAT, You already have the springs (or a couple of hundred if you get Joolz springs) and then mimimal labour (£30ph) from APM to fit. Save yourself a few hundred quid and get better suspension. Or spend the same as TVR parts and get Nitrons - you then have a car that can out handle some of the best handling cars on the road and track. Sorry to harp on - feel fre to ignore me!!! You know it makes sense.

Easy peasy - you can turn the vents off under the dash on passenger and drivers side. the windscreen vents can either be plugged or the likes of APM can modify the pipes.
Your aircon might need making cooler ie either regas and pressure test or just temp switching.
Should not get hot air from gear stick and handbrake - sounds like something needs fixing. Again APM is your man.

what you say makes perfect sense... it's just a metter of timing... in my haste to fix my cerby I have rushed in.

I will look for alternative dampers and also consider the other options you gave me. Gracias amigo.

OK - dont forget that you can get AVOs for under £100 each. Some people want a lot more. ie 50% mark ups. be careful.
