To save me stripping down half my engine (top end that
is) I have an oil leak that drips oil onto my nearside cat at the front.

A bit smokey!

I know that all rocker boxes etc are oil free.

It is engine oil and not gearbox a.t.f that is leaking.

Anyone had this problem before?

Thanks for any advice.

front crank oil seal just wets the alloy chassis closing plate and the underside of the bonnet as the air con belt wafts the oil around, not your problem.
Oil breather is on the o/s air box on all V8 cerbies so again not your problem.
Are you sure it's dripping onto the cat? .. I ask because that's a looooong way under the car, just under the gearbox rear oil seal in fact and there's a tray between the cats and the gearbox rear seal to stop oil getting on the cats.. if it's dripping onto the n/s manifold though then it's probably head gasket or head bolt

Is this info going to be available in a Cerbera bible sometime Steve or has this idea been canned ?

I'm very much in the research period which is why I have just bought a Cerbie again to play with. Don't ask me for a completion date as I don't know yet. The more I delve into this the more I realise I need to know. Which is why Joolz is giving me a lot of homework to do or its a big big detention if I don't get it right!

Thanks for the help.

I will check the oil pressure gauge pipe that feeds from the rear of the engine first of all, and also the oil pressure sender switch.

The whole of the underside of my chassis is saturated with engine oil, and when I park up and stop the engine you can see oil dripping from the underside of the car in the cat area. I must say thatthe heads look very oil tight.

I will have a look this weekend, wife permitting.

In fact I wont tell her.
