I have just sold my M3 Convertible and am currently looking for a replacement.

I have always lusted after (and very nearly) bought an early Cerbera but don't know whether to take the plunge.

I think I would go for an everyday hack if I bought one as I don't fancy running it through winter on the 50 mile round trip to and from work.

So come on guys, persuade me it's a good idea to do now rather than in 6 months time before I go and buy a winter runabout (allbeit a nice one).

Cheers

Paul

PS - I would be looking to spend about £17-18k.

Well, I recently bought a 96 Cerb for £15.5k and have done 1500 miles in the past month with no problems.

After all the comments from various sources, it's a lot more docile than I was expecting and once you get used to its grumbles at low revs, then it's quite easy to keep the car in check in the rain.

I'm planning on running mine over the winter, so you could wait to see if i'm still alive and posting in a few months time

Best advice is to read this forum and see if you that puts you off.

1. do it
2. forget what the zim zimmer was like
3. spend as much as you can - look for evidence of previous owner spending £2k+ per annum
4. get an inspection (austech did mine)
5. DO IT

If you dont do it you will allways regret it. Cerbs are the ultimate in cars, oh and by the way get an S6, and not a poxy V8

I've just bought a 98 S 4.5 which I am going to run as my every day car, you have to talk nicely to them when they are cold but you will NEVER get enough of people stopping to stare....you don't get that with a beemer!! My bro has a new 540 and beautiful and reliable as it is it is just anonymous whereas the Cerb to quote my Nephew is a "knicker dropper" choice I know!

Just get a shot of one. Thats all the persuasion you'll need. I had an M3 a couple of months back, the difference in power and pose factor is unbelievable. Was swithering like u whether to take the plunge but have and am so glad i did. Buy as new as possible oh and make it a speed six! Good luck

Yes definately get one, you'll never see so much of the British countryside as when you drive a Cerby.... all those breakdowns give you that time to stop and smell the flowers!
