Here you are mate, straight from the manual...

To disable the interior ultrasonic sensors, press and hold the button on the radio key for approximately 4 seconds. This is indidicated by a series of fast flashes of the hazard lights. The sensors will be automatically introduced when the system is next operated.

There are also some system diagnostics...

The LED at the top of the rear screen will flash in one of the following sequences to indiacate which circuit triggered the alarm..

Ultrasonics - 1 flash every 6 seconds
Doors - 2 flashes every 6 seconds
Boot or bonnet - 4 flashes blah blah
Panic facility - 16 flashes blah blah

This may tell you whats happening

And no there isn't a bonnet switch.

Thank you, do you know if the led flashes are after the alarm has been unset after the trigger or while the alarm is still set afeter the trigger if you see what I mean.

Looks like four flashes, has gone off about 12 times today. What should I look at in the boot to help to correct this problem also seems to be related to the wet.

Had a similar prob with mine.
Check your boot light switch is actually turning the light off when the boot is shut. The switch is adjustable and located either to the left or right of the boot hinge. Ps I think the light comes from a Rover. If it still plays up pull the wire off because when mine got wet it shorted out the contacts within the switch. Got a new switch, took it apart and filled it with grease. Perfect.

Sounds like the boot switch to me. Good advice! By the way the switch is from the rover 200 / 800 series if you need a replacement.

Thanks for the advise, I have taken it off and given it a good clean I will listen out for it.

On another note I put the boot light bulb back in at the same time, seems to start the carpet smoldering if its on for a time, is this normal, its 10 watts.

how does the panic facility work. I had a problem with kids on my car at the weekend. I chased them away but i wanted to set the alarm off.

Hold the button down for about 6 seconds, siren will sound for 15 seconds.
