Hi there

had a similar thing with mine earlier in the year. Its almost certainly the UJ on the steering column seizing up - TVR conveniently place this in the front wheelarch, directly in the line of fire of any road crud and water!

The UJ is about £40, takes about half an hour to fit (assuming you get a dealer/indie to do it), or about three hours of cursing and scuffed knuckles if you try to do it yourself. My advice - don't!

cheers, hope this helps

Just had a similar problem with my 98 4.5 which turned out to be a sheared woodruffkey on the pas drive shaft. Apparently, early cars (pre 99) had a much smaller keyway thats prone to this problem. Luckily in my case the old woodruff key could be replaced, total cost was around £300.00

Im told that this is not always possible and if this is the case a new jack shaft must be fitted with a larger keyway, total cost of around £1k

Had mine repaired by APM but Im sure Joolz can advise further.

oh so true matt, I usually do an electric conversion for early cars where the owner is on a budget, whole thing done for well under 500 pounds - it's what tvr use on tamora and t350 so it's still tvr stuff at the end of the day .. result

Mine's just developed this problem, really heavy this morning.....however once I'd nearly ripped my shoulders out of their sockets it was Ok after a few yards.

Seems to be happening first thing in the morning or when it hasn't moved for a while.

Any more things to look at?

Mine does it occasionally on a quick left to right or vice versa when I'm tootling round the car parks.

never really bothered me yet but if it's something that might get serious then i suppose i'll have to look into it

First thing on start up mine feels notchy (steering that is). It's like feeling every revolution of the pump!
It goes away by the time the engine is warmed up!
Anything to worry about?
