Nope still can't see.............
Picture this half a mile away from home, dark, raining screen half demisted, wipers doing what wipers do then stop at parked position.
OK press button on steering wheel ...nothing ..view getting worse by the second..... window open head out for last few yards. Pull up a home must be electrical ignition on press button can hear drive motor turning ......ok must be mechanical...
If I help the wipers to start their stroke they will complete one full swipe and back to rest. Unassisted just get a clunk ....question is it a gear in the drive motor or a linkage in the place I can't get to?
Thoughts appreciated as it's wet and dark

Before delving into linkages, make sure the wipers are bolted down tightly onto their spindles although it would be mighty odd that they both did it at once.

Sounds like linkage otherwise.

Mine did exactly the same thing last Friday, in Tottenham High st. in rush hour

Just lent out and gave them a nudge and all seemed OK. Button didn't work, even ignition off & back on didn't help which I found strange!

Looked a right plonker.

Jack,
try what Lusifer, suggested mine did the same,
i.e came loose on the spindle.

Finally got around to opening up the wiper motor to find the push and pull cable had parted with the end socket. Popped the socket from the sliding cam and filled with 2 pack structural adhesive went to refit and droped part into the abiss behind the engine. Can I find it ????? NO........"2w@".... "Bu&&er".
Have just fabricated a replacement out of 8mm square mild steel, drilled and side pinned and at moment wipers are working
Next rain will tell
