Out of all the TVR models (Speed 12 excluded ;-)) which is fastest around a track?

Also, has there ever been an official or otherwise Nurburg ring time posted for the Cerbera?

I think the t350 is the best on the track, but i guess it depends on the driver and the style of track.

Wow! The T350 is that good eh?

What about the Cerbera's with suspension mods or the LW and red rose versions?

Do Cerbera's typically beat the Tuscans?

The track modified Cerbera formerly known as B19 TOY was not troubled by either road Tuscans or any of the few T350s encountered at track days. Road going GT3 Porsche owners move over nicely too - including a new model RS at Donington.

But to be fair, put a really good driver in any reasonably fast car and they will storm past 'faster' cars being driven by drivers who are less experienced/less confident/can't afford to risk damaging the car.

A anyway, I reckon the fastest TVR on any track is probably the one Shorty is driving!

That's the thing. I would probably be faster round a track in my old 944, the survival of which was a matter of little interest to me, compared to the Cerb, which I really do want to see make next Christmas..

When I was rallying, the thing that improved my stage times the most was getting a trailer for the rally car. The concept of being 450 miles from home in a bent car, and having to get to work in about 8 hours does shave off a few tens here and there

Edited cause I can't spell

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like all the current crop are pretty handy on track then?

Do TVR's suffer much in the wet? I remember the T350 matching an Evo7 FQ300's dry time in the wet which I was well impressed with!

I will be buying a Cerbera 4.2 in early '04 and will want to do track days .

How many trackdays/year are you thinking of doing?

If the answer is loads then a cerbie may not be for you as it will be very expensive to run. It's also fairly heavy for a track tool.

However that is just my opinion, best person to ask is someone like DannyLT who did a lot of track miles in his cerb.

A well driven Evo will thrash any TVR around the track in the wet. They're not always well driven though.

Any recent TVR with decent modified suspension will beat the unmodified one around a track - certainly the Nitron suspension on my Cerbera made more difference than anything else, though more brakes & power never hurt

As for the T350 matching Elise handling... I think not! (As an Elise owning ex-TVR owner)

If you're planning a few track days next year, you'll be fine. If you're thinking of doing loads, then consider the expense of new tyres, brake pads etc. and the fact that big heavy powerful cars DON'T make good track cars, at least unmodified.

Probably depends as much on the track as the driver as well.

I could see a Cerb doing well at Silverstone for example but a T350 doing better at somewhere like Anglesey...

how about a T350 on nitrons with the tuscan s engine upgrade? that should be ok round a track.

I can only comment on Snet where Danny and others will recall that the two cerb 450s (an orange one and a blue one) were chasing each other round faster than anything else in their sessions (including the demonstrator 350) - but that excludes Danny and AndrewD in their Radicals cos they were in another session. Lucky for them.

He he.

I'm sure both evo magazine and top gear (on telly) found a t350c to be as fast as an Evo FQ300 when they tested both in the wet. And this was with the same driver....

Sure - as long as it had a decent brake upgrade

Was that on the TVRCC day? When a Cerb stacked it right at the end? No comparison - the Radical is probably 15 seconds faster, though similar top speed down Revetts.

If I was to go round Snett 15 seconds faster than I've ever been - and have to make it up round Coram and Riches, I think an underwear upgrade might be mandatory. Nomex gusset, anyone?!

Towards the end of the afternoon I followed Danny (I think it was) out of the pits, Radical versus V8S. Since nobody else was on the track then I pushed harder than I normally would and by really ragging it through the corners I could more or less keep up with him over the lap. Hah! Those little bike engined things are no match for 4.6 liters of Rover's finest. That was on the first two laps. On the third lap, as we approached the end of the pit straight at some humungus speed I left the braking as late as I dared, only to find that Danny hadn't braked at all in fact he suddenly accelerated like somebody had run into the back of him. By the time I got round the corner he was out of sight round the following corner and it seemed barely a couple of laps later he was behind me again. Apparently he had been pottering around gently waiting for the oil to come up to temperature, tuning the radio in or some such. The ol' V8S is pretty fast as TVRs go and there aren't many road cars that can show me a clean pair of heels round the track, but those Radicals aren't just faster, they're much, much much faster. (But they just don't have that V8 burble!)

Unfortunately no radio as standard, but they make up for V8 burble with a motorbike scream and 2G lateral . Coram is indeed awesome - flat from before the bombhole with full wing (the wussie setting!). Hope to make the TVRCC day next year if you want a ride!

Nice bare black plastic, with a convenient drain hole I'd love a ride in the Cerbera too - haven't been in one since I sold mine.
