Bought a new Cerbera 4.2 today
Only problem is the alarm seems to be playing up, and after lurking here reading for a while you guys seem to be *the* definitive article in all things Cerbera.

So here it is, when locking the car, get four blinks from the car and the alarm seems to activate. (as I understand should be 2 blinks for activation and 1 for de-activation).

After these four blinks however I can still open the doors, and in so doing it gives a single blink (possibly a signal of de-activation of alaram) however after a short time (not always though) the alarm then goes off.

I can still start the car etc and drive without a problem (although having to give plenty of revs to stop stalling constantly, but that's another problem, ho hum, nature of TVR Cerbera I suspect).

After consultation with service people they said to un-attach the doors/windows box in the boot for 5 minutes, then re-attach and try again and in theory should solve problem.

No joy.

Any ideas, I have a nice Cerbera that i've driven once back from pickup but is now in lock up as I can't leave on my drive!

Pretty bad to reply to my own post, but some past posts that I missed suggest that de-connecting the battery for a while may help?

Sounds more like the central locking not working.

Does four blinks mean that all is not closed properly ???

Maybe the boot or bonnet switch is not working properly so the alarm is not activating fully...

I'm assuming its the standard alarm.
Mine blinks 4 times to activate, and it does lock the car etc.

One long blink to de-activate.

If you disconnect the battery, when you reconnect it, you have a few seconde to re-sync it with one of the remotes. Hold the button for 6 seconds immediately after you've reconnected the battery (you'll know when it's re-synced because the indicators will flash a couple of times). (as per tvrfreak.com)

Same for my 96, not sure if this changed with later cars?

Thanks everyone, i'll give the battery thing a try, although the locking not working sounds likely too.

Mine also does the 4 blink routine. However, I have the same problem with the car not locking after activation of the alarm. The reason is because one of the doors is not fully closed as recognised by the alarm. When I have this problem, I now push my hip against the drivers door to ensure it is fully closed, then set the alarm - problem solved. I suspect the permanent cure will be to expose more of the 'closure switch' at the bottom of the door (very simple job) or push the door rubbers back.

I'll give that a try, never got the chance today to do the de-connect of battery so shall try Monday (car in lock-up currently!).

Mine blinks 4 times and once when unlocking too. I questioned this when I first bought the car and it turns out that this is correct and the manual is wrong.

On the plus side, most people don't know how to get into it in the firs place!

Mine blinks 4 times & sets o.k.
On a seperate note
I've just had the battery off, reconnected, sync'd the fob, all apears o.k.
I've noticed questions on previous threads "how to sync second fob ?" but my second fob appers to be working exactly the same as the first one, Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining.
