Successful day – well almost

Managed to replace battery this morning and reset alarm within the 6 secs - result, everything fine. Even the windows go to the top! Whilst the battery was out, I removed the coolant expansion tank to re-seal some leaks, above passenger footwell. Found a few cracks, so in with new silicon. Also, found a loose jubilee clip on a hose. On a roll now - so decided to straighten the n/side rod for the bonnet catch. All going great, then disaster – mole grips slipped and landed on the wing. Result 2 deep paint chips. Well p
d but trying not to loose it. Growled at the kids
and checked PH for info on bleeding cooling system – a post by Joolz saved much work, far quicker than handbook. Warmed up the beast and all OK. To smile again, I took a run over to Fernies to order my new number plate, S... TVR. Personalised plates are not for me but I decided a work of art, like Cerbie, deserves it. Car ran beautifully, as it has done in the last 4 weeks since being under cover. Next purchase will be rubber protective mats for placing on wing and a Viper Blue aerosol – not sure if dealers hold them. Ah well - back to the grind tomorrow. Next weekend, Christmas shopping then another look at those noisy brakes. Since I ‘fixed’ them they squeak worse and even have a bit of judder. Still at least the number plate will look the part.

Had the same sort of thing when changing my battery a few weeks ago. Everything going great, just putting the airbox back on when one of the securing bolts decided to launch out of my hand and land somewhere in the engine! So rapidly searching for my extendible magnetic thingy, luckily found it and a large "sigh" was to be heard. I am sure that the car does this to you just to test your patience. Hope you get that colour matched, but isnt it worth all the trouble in the end.
Not really engineering related but putting the old "Chevy Chase" lights on the house yesterday stood the ladders up against the garage wall, checked they were secure, walked away....5 mins later freak gust of wind, scraping sound and I turned to see my large heavy extending ladders crash straight over the cerb bonnet scratching both wings and middle of bonnet....as you can imagine I was chuffed to bits with myself for the rest of the day!! Lighter note, I made a 450 mile round trip London and back last week with Mrs Bazza and luggage without a single hitch, apart from the south african car park guy having to come back up from the depths of the car park to ask me how to start it!
