There's a button in the centre console that looks like the door buttons. It lights up green when pressed. What's it supposed to do? I guess it locks all the doors so the outside buttons don't work?

Yes.

Edited to say, it's a simple as that. A security lock.

Mine flashes when I arm the alarm to tell me it's locked.
A while back when disarming the alarm the button kept flashing and I couldn't get in.
Came in, had a cup of tea and tried again....all OK. Strange system

It should also flash when you set off and get to a couple of miles an hour to let you know the doors have automatically locked to stop you accidentally falling out at speed.

Didn't work on mine. Passenger door has opened twice while traveling. Once with my wife in the passenger seat (but didn't fall out even after a push ) and once while turning right at 20mph ish. Nearly hit a parked car Window didn't lower on both occasions so must need the latch adjusting, nothing to do with electrics.

I pushed mine for the 1st time (after 12 months).....AND I was locked in!

I had to use the key fob to lock/unlock the doors...Now I'll think twice before pressing unmarked buttons in TVRS

I've not pushed mine yet, I've been too scared of what might happen.

It's not as bad as my old mx5 though, the radio had a tendency to give up the ghost on damp mornings and needed a few miles to dry out before it would stay on. I learned about that trait after doing a bit of investigation, however the first time it happened I used some delicate perscussion maintenance, only to have a bare toggle switch with 2 meters of white wire running from it fall out of a cubby hole in the dashboard.

Now, driving along in a car with an unlabelled, jerry-rigged toggle switch in your hand, begging to be flicked is an interesting experience. With thoughts of the roof flipping back and me being jet-propelled out of the drivers seat, I'll admit to pulling off the road before cautiously rocking the switch over.

It was mightily disappointing to find that the switch appeared to do absolutley nothing!

When I get round to building my first kit car, I'll make sure there is a big red button with "Do Not Press!" written on it in bold letters. Place the button in an awkward position that will only be seen when fiddling with something technical, make sure it has a red and black wire going to the wiring loom and most importantly, make sure it does absolutley nothing when you press it.
It'll give the next owner something to puzzle over when I sell the car

I have a phone holder in the car which from my perspective covers this little switch but being driven home slightly inebriated by mrs Bazza the other night i saw it and thought hmmmm, wonder what that it, pressed it then sat quietly shitting myself all the way home coz i didn't know what i had done!! So further to last post, don;t press unmarked switches and CERTAINLY not after a couple of drinkies

Mine has done this twice when driving along in the rain. Window closed on its own, doors locked, windows inoperable. First time, I stopped and had to use the manual handles to get out of the car....guess what? couldn't get back in again! Went for a cup of coffee, came back 20 minutes later and its working again.

Second time, I just kept going, and it sorted itself out after about 15 minutes. Wierd!!!

cheers
