well its took me a week to come to terms with it but my cerb is dead.

i spun on a icy road last weekend hitting a tree and a wall and writing the car off.

gutted is an understatement cos of all the time and effort put into the car, never mind the money but i know, at least im ok.

be careful i was only doing 20-25mph.

Im shocked Mike. Glad you are alright though. I know you.ve put a lot of time and effort, as well as the costs involved, into your cerb. Where abouts was it. Was it round here in Sheffield? Not noticed anything on the local news.

1 mile from home in doncaster,i'd only nipped to B&Q,wished i hadn't bothered.

ive got all the bits from inside, music, road pilot etc and am hoping to salvage the exhausts and newly fitted nitrons.

thing is i only had it fully resprayed in the spring.

there will be a replacement but what it will be ive no idea.

Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure I've seen your car at Joospeed and it looked lovely. I know what yu mean about the roads, I've had a few slidy moments myself the past few days.
Are you sticking with TVR?

At least you're ok, and nobody was hurt. It sounds though a lot of effort went into your pride and joy (did look fantastic in your profile), are the insurance company giving you a fair price?

Another TVR victim, almost makes me glad the Cerbera is sitting somewhere in chesterfield. I know how you feel about damaging your pride and joy - ask Joolz, I did far worse than that!! Glad you are ok, but its a real shame to lose such a stunning Cerbera.

Im suprised it was only a 20-25mph impact?? Experience tells me that they tend to shrug off impacts at 15-20mph with a few little cracks?? although if its damaged all round rather than just one spot I can see how it could be written off. I hope you managed to grab those rather tasty wheels off it too - although sounds as if they might have taken a knock themselves

Good luck with the insurance/ the replacement, just make sure its a worthy replacement!! Keep it TVR - I dont want to hear that you have gone over to the dark side...

I remember you having the car done, with the respray, the exhaust and the wheels. Will your replacement be another Cerbera?

i'm afraid two of the wheels have bit the dust.

i made impact mid spin so i think there was a sort of whip effect, anyhow the tree i hit was embedded in the rear wing completely moving the fuel tank a fair bit.

the rear roof pillars split both sides due to flex i guess,i think the only panels ok are drivers door and front wing.

insurance have offered me a fair price (for them)although its less than i would have sold the car for.

what next? dunno but ive lost my no claims now so its going to cost!

mike.

Dont accept the first offer the insurance company makes.
Good luck Mike, and hope to see you in a TVR soon.

I could do with some Nitrons if they're still in one piece and you want to recoop some of the money spent?

Definitely argue with them.... find two or three examples of heavily over-priced ones (shouldn't be hard!) of the same age, spec, and mileage, and shout a bit.

Best thing to do is to to get your own Independent motor Engineer to undertake an inspection of your car and arrive at a pre accident valuation. Usual costs is round about the £100 mark and there are loads in the yellow pages (though preferrable to get an Engineer by way of TVR OC or such like, if your a member ofcourse), but on a £15 to £20K car £100 is hardly a great deal.

If your Insurers are one of the big high street Firms, such as Direct Line, Churchill etc, then advise them that if you dont get a fair valuation, you'll report it to the press and/or the Insurance Ombudsman. Contrary to popular belief such Firms as this do care about Public Relations. If however, its via a Lloyds Syndicate, then frankly they wont give a flyer as they are in it purely for the money (I know, have worked for two of them and you wouldnt believe the activities they get upto).

Hope you get what its worth. PS, sorry to be an interloper on your site, but have been looking longingly at a Griffith to replace my own Elise since the chills of winter have set in..............

Glad to hear your OK, another useful item to keep hold of is the starter motor. I once negotiated the crashed vehicle in a settlement. Stick any bits you no longer need in the classifieds (pistonheads of course).
