Anyone Got A Tracker On Their Cerbera?
Discussion
I thought about this, but decided that unless an insurance company demanded it then I was better off without. A stolen/recovered car has been:
- broken into
- thrashed from cold
- had some scrote driving it, probably badly (quickly over speed humps, hit curbs etc)
- may have been crashed
Would you want the car back after that and would it ever feel the same?

Possibly I would. Having had a few houses trashed by
low life - after the repairs, I didn't feel I had to move.
Not sure on the insurance view of damage caused to
engines in this situation - anyone?

I suppose a house is slightly different. I think I could cope with that. It would obviously be unpleasant initially but it would be easier to see the damage that had been done. However, with a car if the clutch went a few months later or the engine required a rebuild or whatever you'd always wonder whether it was a direct concequence of the theft.

Depends a bit on how much you've spent on your car: I had an Astra stolen in the 80's,(BiB found it in Bull ring Birmingham NCP), and traded it in immediately afterwards.
With the Cerb, it takes a while to find a good one, and if you've spent xxxxxx.xx on suspension, brakes, rustproofing, it would be tough to start from scratch.
Cerbs as supplied by the factory seem to be like the starter car in software games..you need lots of points to make them really good :-)
Graham,
I had a trakcer retrieve on mine. Never had to activate it though. It knocked a few hundred quid off the insurance IIRC. To be honest if it hadn't come with the car I'm not sure I'd have bothered.
This is true of quite a few cars

Had a tracker on my Cerbera but I am afraid they are a bit like airbags you don't know how good they are until you have to use one in anger.Must admit it did pick up that my car was being moved while the engine was switched off.The car was being taken to HHC on a low loader due to an imobiliser fault!!!
Got the Navtrack as well Graham. Didnt make any difference to the insurance quote at all. It's paid up for the next 2.5 years. You can phone the car and ask it where it is. It texts you back with location etc. Pretty cool! Apart from that it's a bit of a pain having to disarm the alarm then the tracker before you go anywhere. Not sure how much it was to fit but 3 years cover was 360quid.
Over and out

Hm. xxxxxx.xx. That's 6 figures plus pence. Tam Lin dearest, are you sure you want a Cerb suspension for your birthday?!
