Has anyone tried one of these before :

I saw the advert in a 4 wheel drive mag. Sounds good in that the engine is pre-warmed before you start it on a frosty morning. Knowing me, I'll probably drive off with the cable still attached costs around £250.

Remember though that it won't warm up your engine oil, gearbox, differential, brakes or tyres.

You'll still need to take it easy for a good few miles to get everything up to temperature.

Surely if it is heating up the block, then the engine oil will be heated up to some extent (admittedly there won't be *that* much heat conduction from the block to the sump)

Lot of people use them over here , even to the point of having plug sockets in company car parks .
