I have a (seemingly worsening) clatter. Initially I thought it was the exhausts knocking on the bodywork underneath. Andy at APM had them off and repositioned them and it went away for a couple of weeks but now is back and seems to be getting worse. Further investigation today seems to point to it coming from somewhere at the front in or near the engine.
Any ideas (SP6 btw).

It seems to be loudest when inside the car. I can hear it if a little if I stick my head close (but not too close!) to the engine or by the front left wheel. It sounds like the kind of noise you would expect if the exhaust was knocking on the chassis (or somewhere), i.e. a 'clattering'. It only seems to happen when the engine is idling.
It gives the loudest presentation as the engine dies when you hit the red button.

Had a very similar problem. If you suspect the exhaust then get the car on a ramp and use your hand or a rubber hammer to firmly tap it at different points - you should be able to reproduce the noise that way. Did this with my V8 and it turned out to be an incorrectly fitted exhaust clamp at the rear, though you would never have guessed that from listening to the rattle from inside the car.

what I thought was an exhaust rattle, turned out to be a broken valve spring pinging away on each stroke.
