Just picked up my Cerb from Topcats today, and heading home when the heavens opened and i got well and truly stuck in the snow.

I was going through some country lanes when it started, and basically got stuck going up a very slight hill. Had to reverse back and drive very slowly a few miles or so back to the main road (which was'nt much better). Then it was stop start all the way through Aylesbury and on to Wing, and again i got stuck on a little B road, and even with 4 kind drivers trying to give me a helping hand, it was a no go and had to reverse again and try another way. All in all took about 6 hours for a 15 mile journey, and all of it in 1st/2nd gear and giving the clutch some serious hammer! Temp gauge went over 100 a few times (but at least i know my fans work now ) Also, it was nice to see the friendly, helpful side of other motorists.

Still, i got home, and apart from the Torville & Dean impressions, the Cerb was fine. The wheel arches were caked in sluch/ice which took ages to shift. Must admit it was the most scariest journey i have ever made in a car, and would not wish it on my worst enemy. Did'nt think i would ever get home in one piece, let alone the Cerb. Phew!

I remember driving back from Aylesbury to Leighton Buzzard a few years back in a blizzard in my Cerbera, those roads are not the best.

At least you got back eventually but most importantly in one piece.

All in one piece, except perhaps for my nerves

i had a scary experience coming over bodmin moor or some such place in wintry cornwall, back when i had my cerb. One minute it was all sysytems go, next it was cerbera all over the place as the snow descended and covered the black stuff, quickly followed by the brown stuff.

One trick is to put the handbrake on a notch. Helps the diff maintain contact on both rear wheels and prevents the car snaking when you try and move.

PS it was fun wasn't it.... Fortunately I was in the TVR support vehicle when the snow descended.

Yes, unlike William Ball who seems to have run over a rogue skier.

I could not even get the cerbera up the lane at the back of the house, just sat there spinning the wheels slipping slowly backwards.

Used the Saab and managed to handbrake it more less perfectly into my parking space

Can i just ask WilliamBall how he attaches his skis to his Cerb? I do a lot of wakeboarding/skiing in the summer and would love to be able to take my gear in the cerb!

They fit inside...tails in the passenger footwell, tips in the cubby hole between rear seats.

dont understand - cerbs are fine in the snow. I got up a hill last yr that was sheet ice and v steep. My friend in a 530d tiptronic BMW couldnt get up at all and had to dump his car. I just started slowly and as I picked up speed I booted it and drove sideways up the hill. No probs!

Exactly. Flat out in top gear doing about 10mph you are bound to move somewhere, even if it is round in circles!

Got up the hill out of Dunstable at 5000 revs in first, on full opposite lock and just bouncing the nearside rear off the kerb from time to time for extra traction. Couldn't do the 1 in 6 to my house though, so had to spend two night in the village. I got rescued by my mate in his Audi A8.....
