I've noticed that the Toyo tyres (for example) in 16" sizes are 'W' rated instead of 'Y', even though they are 'ZR'.

Does this mean they are OK for an early Cerbera? I currently run S03's (ZR, Y rated), but fancy a change.

The higher speed rating markings can be quite confusing:
Z - 149mph max
W - 168mph max
Y - 186mph max
ZR - speed capability over 149mph
ZR with W - speed capability over 149mph but 168mph max
ZR with Y - speed capability over 149mph but 186mph max

See here

I suspect you need a ZR-Y rating, but if in doubt check with a tyre expert.

Is 186mph the maximum speed rating you can get ? Surely not, as there are a few current sports/super cars that will break that (ZOnda, Lambo, RUF, 996 Tubo, GT2, etc etc)

What do you fit if/when you want to take a Cerb to Germany & go for a max speed run ?????

....so does this mean that people are fitting 'W' rated ZR tyres (such as the Toyos) to the early Cerb wheels?

In standard tyre ranges, yes.

Y rated tyres is about the best you can do I think.

At 186mph your Cerbera speedo will be reading over 200mph anyway.
