Driving to hedge end tonight, slowed down for a roundabout and as i came out the other side she just died, cut out!!!! quick panic as the steering was super heavy and brakes were pathetic. I safely pulled over and restarted her, but she ran really lumpy and tick over was about 500rpm, gave her a quick blip and continued on to Wildern where i was going too, about 1 mile, continuosly left footed it to keep revs up from stalling, also steering was still really heavy.

I have looked under the bonnet and all is ok, thought perhaps alternator belt had gone and lack of voltage may have caused the probs, but that looked ok.

Came back to her about 1 hour later, fired her up and went for a 15 mile hack........no problem at all! almost as if nothing had happened.

Has anyone got any ideas? bit worrying.

Had you stopped and re started the car within a short
period of time before the problem?

I think I had that once, if you stopped and put the clutch in the engine would stall, you had to keep some pressure on the throttle, right?

If so I'm pretty sure (thinking back) mine was fuel related (bit of a blockage), at least it sorted itself out as soon as I went over a speed hump and gave it a bit of a blip on the throttle. Hence after you stopped and everything settled back it started ok.

I may of course be talking complete bollox when Joolz says correctly what the problem is but I thought I'd just say my bit as it sounds so much like mine

thats what i thought, i did run down the tank a bit too low....i like to refill at least and 1/4 but was on a long run and its was getting low.......£52.00 fill up. after i restarted i went down the motorway for a 7000 rpm splat and all was fine. still worrying tho just incase it does it at a crucual moment.

Possibility of this as earlier models were prone to it. As you'll see, it happened to me.

I know it's winter(?), but it hit 16c / 62f today -
just a thought.
