Starter motor delay
Discussion
Can anyone tell me how they have introduced the two second delay, when you press the black button.
Is it some sort of timer module ?
Mine has had problems recently, but on the last two occasions, when the starter hasn't fired, I've just sat there with my finger on the button, & its fired up like a good'n, all be it after 20 odd seconds.
Its as though what ever time gap is there has multiplied itself by ten.
This might be of interest to andy4200.

Mine done it again today, in Oldham of all places. I scratched my head and tapped a few boxes but nothing happened the I remembered your tip.....
I kept my fingure down for about a minute then she fired up when I least expected it.
I'll have to get Joolz to check the starter connection when it's in for service.

Its all part of the driving experience.
Will she, wont she ?
Caused a bit of a stir the other day in a Shell garage, picture the situation, me sat there with a gormless expression on my face, one finger on the button, whilst trying to ignore the sounds of horns & shouting from the 100 yard queue that had formed behind me, lucky the radio's loud. (f*****g car !)
Apparently, I have a dodgy/dirty connection from the solenoid to the starter, holding the button must warm up the connection, allegedly.
I'll have it done on the next service.
