Can anyone tell me where to get some Mobil 1 5W50 oil as I've tried everywhere around here (Mansfield) and can't find any. Or is there an alternative oil which can be used?

No not yet, tend to be a bit pricey at Peter Smiths. Might call Joospeed thinking about it. Alan

At the end of the day, and fully synthetic 5w/50 will do the same job. I use Synta in my Chim, can get it from Audi dealers to Skoda dealers (VAG product!) It's obviously cheaper at the Skoda dealer. About £15 for 5 litres. Seems to last better than Mobil 1 too (better or equal spec as well). TVR only recommended Mobil 1 because they got a shedload of sponsorship at the time, not because their motors' wouldn't work without it.

Hi jools, 76 lubricants company (just found them via google)
Reading off bottle," protection & lower oil consumption at high temperatures, improved oil flow during extreme cold start ups"
The car seems to like it, cue loud locking noise when I leave work at 5.

Oils of choice by racers and independant Oil testers are Millers and Mobil 1.

I personally will use nothing else in high performance engines. It's all that stops metal to metal contact.

I'm thinking of changing to Millers when teh valvoline runs out, they do a 10/60 or similar which sounds just the ticket ..

I think Guge uses 76 oils. They stuck a sticker on the windscreen of my Chimaera when we went to Rockingham. It was a b*****d to get off.

Personally, I use whatever Joolz gives me :fluttereyelashuselessgirlieoohcanyouhelpmejoosmiley:

All of the three big Hypermarkets in Calais do it at about 35 Euros for 5 litres, although it was quite a while since I got any there.

I am led to believe that the best oils are Amsoil, Redline and Motul as they use pure polyol ester base stocks.

76 are "Phillips 76" one of "our" brands. Not a small company - we are the biggest oil refiner in North America ( ConocoPhillips )
