Most people that know me on PH are aware I've been involved in Retro-Rides Shows since 2008 (Somehow I ended up co-ordinating the track activities and also assist with show build up and tear down)

The next Retro Rides Show is the Weekender at Goodwood Motor Circuit and is getting close now only a couple of weeks to go (much excitement and a fair bit of work going on behind the scenes.)

More info here - clicky

Welcome back to the ultimate retro car celebration Retro Rides Weekender at the iconic Goodwood! Brace yourself for a spectacular automotive fiesta that brings together an eclectic mix of retro rides from hot rods to hot hatches, drifters to daily, stance to supercars, and everything in between. Our commitment to embracing the diverse strokes of the retro car scene is at the heart of our Themed Displays, Club Showcase, and Retro Parking areas.

Have a look at a some videos from previous years at Goodwood it'll give you a good flavour for the event

Saturday

The main day if you want to watch "Track Activities"

We've got the CTCRC (Classic Touring Car Racing Club) Bringing with them a great selection of classic touring cars and associated series. From pre-66 Touring Cars all the way up to the wild Super Tourers of the 90's and early 2000's the CTCRC has got you covered. Expect them on display in paddock 1 and on the track across the Saturday. Sunday get up close and have a look around in a more relaxed atmosphere.

More info on CSCC here - https://classictouringcars.com/

They will all be parked on the main straight for a lunch time grid walk.

Track Sessions

There are 4 Sessions on track (unfortunately all Saturday track spaces are pre-booked and sold out.....)

Early and Late Morning are 2 lap sprints around the Goodwood Circuit with 6 cars in each batch (24 cars in each session)

Early Afternoon is a Tarmac "Special Stage" event where a pre-selected group of cars that represent the RR umbrella cars go head to head

This video shows of the format of the special stage nicely watch for the comment at the end where PH'r Gewy gives his verdict

Late Afternoon reverts to 2 Lap Sprints as per the morning with another 24 cars in groups of 6

There are three other "themed Paddocks"

"Deadline" For new builds or significant overhauls

"Rave From The Grave" The car world is littered with makes that didn't make it, from AC to Triumph, Alvis to Saab, or even Austin to Wolseley. We're here to celebrate those that fell by the wayside, got absorbed or even just renamed.

"Saloonatics" In a world of SUVs, Crossovers, 4x4 and hot hatches a Saloon is now a rare beast. Once though they were the dominant car shape, from shops to tip trips to holidays, the family vehicle of choice. We're here to celebrate this, as a bonus we know they really respond well to modification, so we're expected some awesome things, from VIP to track weapons.

We also have

Belly Tankers - A drop tank was used as external fuel reserve for combat aircraft (mainly) in the 2nd World War. After the war hot rodders searching for more aerodynamic forms for getting speed at Bonneville salt flats hit upon the idea of equipping these old aeroplane parts with wheels, steering, a motor and a cutout that someone could sit in. The Belly Tank was born. For Weekender 2026 we'll have a line up of these raw and fantastic machines who will also be in action on the track.

Outlaw Flat Four - We've tried to never lose touch with the VW scene, and have long wanted to get a few of our favourites for a display at Weekender. The calendars rarely aligned, 2026 has given us a boon though. So we are really excited to have Outlaw Flat Four and friends along. Drag racing aircooled VWs isn't the most obvious thing to do, but boy do they impress. Some seriously quick cars in VW Drag Racing circles.

Giant Killers - Our friends at Giant Killers are joining us this year to bring some of that 60’s/70’s inspired custom flavour to our event. Giant Killers are no stranger to events having run their own highly regarded show for a good while. They are taking 2026 off, so we jumped at the chance to offer them a place to meet and show the wider community what they are about.

Lay N Play Lowriders - Our friends at Lay N Play make a welcome return with a great collection of lowriders, we've given them even more room this year to fill and play. Expect awesome bouncing cars and great vibes from the UK Lowriding scene.

Kaido Racers - Wild styled cars hailing from Japan have long been a part of Retro Rides DNA, our own Toyota GX71 being one part of that. With more Kaido Racer builds emerging in the UK we decided now is the time to celebrate. From the extreme Fukuoka and Chibaragi styles, to the slightly more restrained Kyusha cars as well as fun single use one event builds, we'll be showcasing a cross section of what this style is all about.

NSRA - The biggest hot rod club in Europe is back representing at Weekender with the pre29 younger members section. Sure to put on a great display of a range of rods and customs.

Sunday

A huge section of the track is used for show car parking but being Retro Rides we still have some track activity going on with an Autosolo course providing fun for both participants and spectators (we still have spaces available for that)

Now clearly this is well suited for small and nimble cars and some participants take it very seriously but being Retro Rides we have a much broader entry criteria (A bit like USPS motto "If it fits it ships" we take the view "if it can fit between the cones it's OK to run" And yes one year we had a Unimog do the course hehe

"Get down with the beat"

"Vive le difference"

Thanks for the positive feedback

The shows were started by two "car guys" from different scenes who wanted to put on a show that no-one was doing biggrin

I went to the first one and enjoyed it so much I've been helping out ever since and IMO it just keeps getting better and better

Lots going on both days but if you are just doing one day it depends on what you like most

Saturday is more track activity focused but with themed paddocks and club areas providing the static element

Sunday is more display car focused with just part of the track providing some autosolo action because the cars park from the pit exit all the way up the track to Madgwick corner plus club areas and themed paddocks

Oh yes - it's actually shifted over the years - early shows Sat was quieter - Sunday was BAF

Pretty even now but the draw of parking on the actual circuit always seems to get people in early

If you are camping on site don’t forget stuff for the charity tat auction (one of the highlights of the weekend for me to wind down on Sat night after a busy day) and a bit of cash to buy stuff (6N Polo stuff is always popular - camping joke)

Unfortunately we won't be camping frown Both of my cars are too new for the show, I'd be very surprised if anyone there had any parts for my JZX110 lol

Probably the best show there is for pre 2000 motors. Brilliant venue as well. I’ll be there on Saturday.

I’ve just got back having got there at 8.30 this morning.

I thought was a fabulous event. What I really liked was the relaxed atmosphere and the ability to wander around the paddock and various sections looking at the cars. Anyone fancy a McLaren V8 powered VW caddy?

There weren’t huge crowds everywhere so it was possible to take your time and really takes things in. It was also really interesting to see cars that you just wouldn’t see elsewhere as well as proper blasts from the past.

The weather really helped this morning along with the bendy roads on the way there.

Thanks

Rob

Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend! The weather Saturday was fantastic and the show had a great selection of cars. Echoing what Inspire said about the crowds, it was a busy show but it didn't have swarms of people rubbing shoulders the entire time.

Sunday's weather was poor but that can't be helped, still a great turn out though.

Thank you - I never get to see the show despite being in the centre of it so it's good to see what other attendees share
