Beaulieu Supercar Weekend
Discussion
Yes, I'll be going for the first time in 5 years, this time with the MOC.
If you've not been before, it's a good day out with plenty of decent car eye candy on offer.
I'm unsure if it's enough to warrant a 2 day visit as a visitor, and once you've done it, little changes the following year., especially at Beaulieu as you can only walk around the museum once or twice before you've seen everything!
For drivers displaying cars, the hospitality that was an attraction is no longer free, so will be interesting if that impacts the cars attending. Hope not!

I'm there with Sporting Bears, I read that the drivers area no longer had complimentary refreshments but did have them at a discount. I've never been before so have nothing to compare it to. I'm there 2 days but it's a static Sporting Bears stand i.e. no dream rides so I'll have time to wander around and have a proper look.
Going on my own so no wife and kids to slow me down and moan about being tired, hungry and hot so should be able to take it all in.

I'm also there with the Sporting Bears, but do have the fun of a demo run up the track on Sunday.
I've been a few times and enjoy it, mostly for the fun of getting parents to donate to charity so they can take pictures of their kids in the cars, or buy raffle tickets to be a passenger on the demo runs, but I do make sure I have a look round the rest of the show as well.

Anyone attending? I'm doing both days. Never been before. Any tips?
Take some time to visit the Secret Army Exhibition, Palace House as well as the grounds and gardens.

Didn't remember this thread and put 2&2 together today, lovely day with great weather, nice to chat to you. See you tomorrow! Spoke to a guy called Ollie with a Ferrari who is on here too. Nice bunch of people.
Tried to find a decent car wash on my way back to the hotel, no luck, so it'll be dusty all day tomorrow.
I had a good wander round, more chilled out and not as busy as Goodwood, almost a mini Goodwood FOS really, some really nice cars on display throughout.

For my first visit on the Sunday in 5 years, it was a pleasant surprise to see a much better organised and more rounded event.
The cars seemed to be laid out better, the portaloo toilets have gone replaced by permanent structures, more stalls selling things, and more hypercars too although the P1 was missing from the trinity.
My only criticism was a lack of shade in the drivers area which meant we (and by the look of it many others) bailed way before the 3:30pm departure time.
Overall a good event, but still an every-other-year visit.

I went for the first time on Saturday. It was a fun event, the demo runs were enjoyable and there was plenty to see, but one day was enough to comfortably see it all. I'd recommend it as worth a go to anyone who hasn't been. Not so much a mini-FOS, more of a mini-mini-mini-FOS, but it's a much more laid back day than Goodwood.
I was displaying and did a demo run, which was thoroughly enjoyable. (I'm also a SB but decided to display in the main event as I do so many events with them already). The Drivers marquee was pretty crap, no shade at all on a day when it was 28 degrees, just an enclosed marquee which was an oven. "Discounted" refreshments which was just a coffee van selling drinks and snacks as the same price as everyone else. We spent about 5 minutes in there, then went to sit under a tree somewhere.
They might also need to rethink the sound-off challenge. About half of it was taken up by the MC talking on the mic and speaking to the drivers, which is fine I have no problem with that, but two of the cars were so loud at idle that we couldn't hear a single word that was said which did render the interviews a bit pointless.

No shade as such in the drivers area but a marquee which dealt with that. Yes, discounted food and drink wasn't really discounted at all, £3 for a can of diet coke is obscene.
The coffee van in the drivers area was 50% discounted for Sporting Bears though, I should maybe have mentioned that as they didn't want any proof, just a verbal.
Definitely a mini (mini, mini) FOS, agreed, the demo runs had some crackers but interspersed with totally boring stuff which from the groans of the crowd people just didn't really want to see. Would have been good to see some of the hypercars doing it, I mean I love a bog standard Porsche 911 C4S or an Alpine A110 but who wants to see that really!? Maybe it's just me.
Nice to get up close to some of the cars and be able to chat to the owners who were chilling out in the sun next to them. Thanks to the owner of the Ferrari 296 for their time, not a car I'd looked at but so much nicer in the flesh.
It was a 10 hour round trip for me, cost me about £1,000 with hotel and fuel to be there for the weekend with the Sporting Bears (was a nice break, used the spa etc in the hotel) but we raised £13k and it was a nice weekend. Weather was great, got some tan lines going on now.

On the Sunday, the amount of Mustangs doing the demo run was quite high, and there's so many you can take in one day when they all sound the same. One however did burn his clutch out and had to be pushed down the strip, so fair play to him.

Did you try going into the marquee in the afternoon? There was no ventilation as it was just one doorway, I was in there at 1pm and it was a sweatbox. We sat down to eat our lunch and after 5 minutes gave up and found a patch of grass to sit on in the shade. Everyone else seemed to come to the same conclusion as it was virtually empty. It was no big deal, I was off enjoying the show most of the day and didn't really plan to hang out in the drivers area much anyway. But if they had just left the sides off the marquee it would have been a pleasant place to sit for lunch.

Yep, the clutch welded to the flywheel!
ajm, no I didn't actually go into the marquee in all honesty, I'm a sun worshipper so I came home after 2 days with a red nose.
