Recommend a Hotel in Folkestone for Eurotunnel
Discussion
Driving down from Leeds for the first leg of a bit of a Euro trip. Would prefer to avoid the premier inn type places but doesnt need to be anything overly expensive. Theres a group of about 10 of us and we need good private parking too. Will probably be off too early in the morning for breakfast but somewhere that can put on a basic spread early doors would be a bonus.
Not sure if we have any PHers that run anywhere but I'm sure a few have you will have done a similar trip

There is a Holiday Inn Express 5 minutes from the tunnel. Clean and tidy (quite new) and more than enough for some shut eye the night before an early start.
I've used it many times.
This +1 I've used it many times.
I work just next door and I often see super cars and convoys staying there. I usually take a look round the car park before I start work as there is often very nice cars in there

Rocksalt is a very nice place but its off street parking in the harbour and personally I wouldn't want to leave my car around that area overnight as there are a lot of pubs in close proximity. Excellent restaurant though if you fancy it for the return journey and enjoy your seafood
On our recent "Alpine North Tour" by Pistonheads, we all used the Mercure, Hythe, before departing next morning via Eurotunnel. Worked perfectly. Plenty of safe private parking at this hotel.

ive stopped here a few times on the way to Europe, great parking, nice modern rooms, etc. Usually some good deals to be had if you search the web a bit

I used this place to stay in on my way to Le Mans - was very good, got a deal on LateRooms.com so was reasonably priced as wellhttp://www.booking.com/hotel/gb/thehytheimperial.h...
OP (back in 2012) says he’d rather avoid the Premier Inn, but it’s where we always stay in Folkestone.
There’s a typical chain pub attached for a beer and a big car park directly outside, where we’ve never had any trouble. About 3 minutes from the tunnel and there’s a petrol station round the corner.
Suppose it depends what you want as ever, but we usually turn up fairly late on having travelled from Pontefract, with a view to getting up and on the way first thing. No frills but clean and safe.

Holly thread revival Batman.
After 14 years are there any better recommendations, safe parking, reasonable rooms, good beer.
Hythe imperial is decent, loads of dedicated parking. Restaurant was nice food but slightly expensive. Swimming pool, sauna etc downstairs. Nice walk along the sea front. Not in Folkestone (arguably a good thing ;-) but easy drive to the channel tunnel terminal. After 14 years are there any better recommendations, safe parking, reasonable rooms, good beer.
The thing to do is get up earlier drive to Le Shuttle get over or under the channel and spend you first night in France with great food and drink and a few beers before bed…
Some very charming towns and villages with character around an hour from Calais. Wake up on day 2 and your ready to go rather than getting up at sick o’clock in the UK.
Whatever way you dress it up Dover/Folkstone is grim.

But that means finding somewhere in France that is open! Some very charming towns and villages with character around an hour from Calais. Wake up on day 2 and your ready to go rather than getting up at sick o clock in the UK.

We stay at Broome Park Golf Club, lovely place to stay before getting on the tunnel.
