I like the idea of going next September in my Mustang. Has anyone been and any recommendations where to stay etc?

Do you mean the WEC 6 hours, or the 'classic' 6 hours?

I went to both in 2026

Can't help on accomodation, as that was sorted by others. But both events are worth the trip, even with a big crowd for the WEC it wasn't overcrowded and you could easily get around.

Classic 6hrs is much quieter. Perhaps too many GT40s in the main race, but still plenty of interesting cars.

There was a classic car car park which would be worth getting a ticket for if you have a classic Mustang (my electric 'Mustang' certainly wouldn't pass muster...).

I mean the classic 6 hours they hold in September time, I’ll take a look at the classic parking option too.
