Pau Historic meeting

Was thinking of taking a drive to Pau, Southern France in May for the historic race meeting.

Has anyone been? any recommended routes to take, (From Edinburgh), places to stay? Anyone else planning to go this year?

Its good (been before) but not as good as Monaco Historic Grand Prix 15/16 May. there are a few of us flying Sleazyjet to Nice for about £75 return, cheap hotels about 15 mins away by train.
Best European events which are little known are Techno Classica in Essen (1st-4th April) and the Circuit des Remparts in Angouleme(mid September)
