Had my block surfaced and informed machine shop that need suitable finish for cometic HG. Got it back and was flat but if I took a razor blade at 90 degree angle it had chatter when drawn across surface.

Have hand finished to the below standard there are still some ghost marks from the machine shop but the razor has minimal chatter when drawn across the surface. Do you guys think it is good enough for the MLS. Was also going to use some wellseal. Block is still flat cannot get 1 thou gauge in anywhere.

It's supposed to be a very smooth finish, but have seen some pretty wild finishes even from the factory on LS blocks and they still seem to work.

As above. Some of the factory LS engines come with a shocking finish and that's deemed acceptable by a OEM.

Ok thanks hopefully it holds. Previously was MLS but weeped like a family watching Marley and Me. Tried a felpro on it lasted less than 2000 miles. This time round thought I would do it properly. Found ring gaps @ 6thou for 24 psi so really did dodge a bullet. Lucky always didnt truat it based on numpty previous owner who sold me a lemon. Fingers crossed.
