I just got one of these today, heard nothing but good things and want to keep battery charged over winter (car - an LS1 Camaro - is in hibernation now until spring). My question is this: Is it ok to just clip this onto the battery in situ without unplugging anything and leave it for 4 months? The instructions seem to suggest it will be fine doing this, as long as I check early on (in the first day or two) to make sure that the device has entered cycle 7. Never used a CTEK before so thought I would seek the wisdom of this place before going forward. My wish is to leave everything connected so I don't have to deal with a bunch of resets etc. when I next use the car.

It'll be fine, just leave it plugged in. It's what dealerships do with showroom cars after all.

I leave mine connected for several days between runs in the car. Mainly wintertime as car is used less then.

No problems at all.
The ctech monitors the battery and cuts in/out as necessary, including desulphating cycles.

Works fine.
I had my first CTEK charger failing this summer in the garage. Outside temps were 38C, inside a tad more. Charger was almost 10 yrs old.
I now got their 5A polar unit. better silicone insulated cables and automatically restarts charging/maintaining after a power interruption, e.g. due to MIL disconnecting the charger to plug in a vacuum cleaner.

Yes you can leave them on, but recommend starting the car and getting her up to temperature at least every couple of weeks.
