Mitsubishi Pajero Diesel 1990 Problem

Hi guys,

we have a 2.5 diesel and has been good to my us all of a sudden when we start it in the morning it starts and runs idles for about 4/5mins then cuts itself off. After starting it again it runs fine but not sure if thei is causing anymore damage. I took it to the garage they said it maybe a fuel pump or lift pump but ive changed both but still the same problem. I know its old and i know they are not very popular but any suggestions would be much appreciated its been a good family car to us.

Fuel filter & water catch, fuel filter (gauze thing) in tank. Should be a simple fix.
