Fiesta ST mk7 low on power and heavy feeling front end
Discussion
Hi there. Wondered if anyone could provide some advise on a strange problem i have with my Fiesta ST
For a while now the car has felt like the front end is being bogged down or heavy. To explain a bit more, like the pick up at low speed and throttle response isnt as good and steering feeling a bit stiff.
At first thought it was brakes grabbing but had multiple grages confirm my brakes are fine. Car was serviced a few months back with new oil n filter. Alignment seems all okay and no fault codes are showing.
Recently had car dynoed however and car seems slightly down on power at 180bhp when should be at 200bhp on overboost. Dyno was a reliable one too as was a Dynodynamics one. Also have an obd reader which shows boost is slightly lower than should be at max 18psi. Should be reaching 22psi ideally.
Just to add the car idles at correct revs but judders slighlty.
A bit fustrating as garages and Ford cant find anything wrong and really stuck as to what could be causing this.
Sorry to blabber on but is a fustrating issue to the point where car isnt enjoyable to drive anymore.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Standard, on overboost, you should see 18.5-19psi tops. 22psi would be the upper limit for a stage two tuned car on a stock KP39. What dyno was it? And what age? It may of had insufficient cooling on the run as the intercooler heat soaks very easily on the dyno. I'd recommend TK Performance who are based in Norwich as the experts on these cars who can data-log and check the car over fully.

I suffered the same on a dyno day in my Impreza with a top mount intercooler. The car was in a warmish garage and kept idling for a while with the bonnet closed and then when it went on the dyno it was about 40-50bhp down on normal. I had experienced heat soak loads of times before in general running and as a result decided to switch to a large front mount and liberated 100bhp after remapping.
