Hi there

My car oil light started flashing so I pulled into a garage and bought small amount of oil and put tiny bit in, checked dipstick and oil was at top but engine looked dry. Got recovered home because of an awful clonky rattle noise. Audi told me two years ago it has a timing chain lucky and it’s no bother. A friend thinks it’s the oil pump... question is, is it worth repairing???

The awful clunky rattle sounds like the damage has been done.

Expensive rebuild, or cheaper replacement engine required most likely.

Thanks, sounds I need to scrap it then. Any ideas as to who would want it? I will buy a cheap run around as I don’t want another loan... something reliable?! 😂

Ebay seems the best place to sell spares or repair cars.

But it might be worth dropping the oil and checking for signs of metal particles, if there isn’t any it might Be worth dropping the sump If it’s not a big job and you can see if it’s just a blocked pickup or if it’s the pump itself

Drop the sump, take number 4 bearing cap off and see if its picked up. The TFSi seems to suffer from oil pump/strainer blacking up.
