Fuel pump Bosch044 question
Discussion
My Ute has 3 fuel pumps, standard in the tank and two Bosch 044's. One will kick in if the other can't cope and it needs more fuel. I think either one or both aren't working and was wondering about a Walbro equivalent for a replacement. The Walbro site says that their equivalent is good for 500hp, so I am presuming that that would be fine for my 670hp since the second one will kick in if it needs to? Any other info that can help me out would be gratefully appreciated.

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement for the fuel filter please?
LS1 Monaro CV8/VXR?AAS in Newcastle will be able to provide, or at least they had one on the shelf for mine.
Otherwise Google has plenty of answers such as Ryco Z586, Fram G7333, AcDelco ACF120.

Get a VXR8 or camaro, or better still a caddilac CTSv one and graft the innards into the ute bucket. Then throw the noisy pointless 044's in the bin.Or if you are really keen weld a later style ring onto the top of your ute tank and just fit one of the later pumps "as is" though you will probably need to change of the steel rods and springs.
Wouldnt waste my time on a walbro. They deliver less than the standard pump. Tried that once................

New Ute pump has just landed, I'll probably stick with what I have for now then due to having no time for upgrades at the moment. Thanks for the tip, I might do something when I have more time. Walbro make dozens of pumps, all the way up to the "Hellcat" 525's etc etcOr if you are really keen weld a later style ring onto the top of your ute tank and just fit one of the later pumps "as is" though you will probably need to change of the steel rods and springs.

Walbro, Bosch, AEM, all have decent options in a fitment suited to whatever the fuel needs are.
Be aware some of the big pumps, well all of the big pumps can draw a lot of current so ensure all wiring and connectors used can cope.
044's were great pumps, and probably the most reliable pump available, but have not been made for several years now. AEM and I think DW do size for size replacements though. Although I think only one offers with the same metric in and out.
Walbro make a good range of pumps though. Bosch have some new offerings, DW seem to take a Bosch pump and scrape the part number off and charge more.

The walbros i was referring to are the ones that will fit in place of the OE in this particular application, which, sadly, uses a smaller non standard bucket size. Granted, i didnt clarify that.

But none of that is necessary if you fit the right pump in the tank to begin with. Using the OE pump to feed a pair of 044's is just complicated for no actual benefit.

The only reason to ever do as he describes would be a swirl tank scenario. But if a single pump can get the job done, it is always easiest that way. And there are lots of big singles these days. The walbros i was referring to are the ones that will fit in place of the OE in this particular application, which, sadly, uses a smaller non standard bucket size.
