I have a Magnaflow X pipe fitted to my 05 Monaro. I believe the X pipe gives a little more power top end and sounds like a NASCAR racer when you open it up.
The H pipe is a little down on power compared to an X pipe but has a bit more of an old school V8 sound.
TBH I'm thinking about fitting an H pipe just to see how different the car will sound.
Regards John

John have you heard the sound of my 05 Monaro VXR with H pipe and cut outs? If you are going on national meet in Scotland listen to it there before fitting a H pipe. The H pipe is a little down on power compared to an X pipe but has a bit more of an old school V8 sound.

Read this short thread. I was mistaken, thinking I couldn't see an X pipe on my Wortec cat back. You can't see it crouching on the ground and looking under the sill. When up on a ramp you'll see the two pipes just kiss each other behind the cats. Mr Wortec himself contributes to the thread.

Have 05 CV8 and am thinking of having X or H pipe fitted. Already have Wortech catback. When fitted Monkfish did say that it wasn't as loud as they expected. Anyone have X or H fitted? What's the difference between the two? Any advice appreciated
All V8 exhaust tend to have a cross over or balance pipe in them. It's needed to join the exhaust banks together and promotes scavenging. I would think yours must have this already. As for X and H i have seen evidence that X pipes flow a little better at high rpm and can promote higher Peak numbers. But mostly on modded engines running bigger cams. Likewise I've also evidence that a good H setup will promote more torque at lower rpm. But in either case, the differences aren't huge.
Sound wise. The H seems to offer up more of an old school V8 deeper rumble. While the X pipe can make it more racy and raspy sounding. But you'd likely need them side by side to tell the difference.

Not sure if i will make the national meet sadly, but I do remember the sound of you demonstrating the sound of your cut out's at one of the Malton meets a few years ago. In fact my ears are still bleeding.Ade

On my ever growing list job's to do, I fancy an H pipe, and to get rid of my cut out's as they have stopped working. An old school type of sound track is the way to go for me.
